"Resus 1" is our multipurpose ED resuscitation room in the Harborview Medical Center, a level 1 trauma center in Seattle Washington.

The ResUS1 blog is the exploration in resuscitative ultrasound, a clinician-performed point-of-ultrasound used to identify and treat acute life threatening conditions such as trauma, cardiac arrest, hypotension and sepsis.





Editorial Board

Adeyinka A. Adedipe MD, RDMS

Dr Adedipe ("AAA") earned his bachelor's degree from Stanford University and his M.D. from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Boston University Medical Center, and served as chief resident. He currently serves as Director of Emergency Ultrasound.More recently AAA has been investigating the utility of imaging technology as a means to provide meaningful hemodynamic information in the care of severely ill patients.



Dr Brandon Backlund MD

Dr Backlund earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Washington in Seattle and his medical degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of California, San Diego. He did a fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound at Denver Health Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. He currently serves as Associate Director of emergency ultrasound. He is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Medicine and is board certified in emergency medicine.


Dr Michael Vrablik DO
Dr. Vrablik is an acting instructor in the University of Washington's Division of Emergency Medicine. He received a B.S. in biology from Santa Clara University and his D.O. from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Vrablik went to Indianapolis, IN for his emergency medicine residency and emergency ultrasound fellowship at Indiana University.
